Open Access Journals in Poland

elcome to the list of Open Access journals. This service covers free, full text scientific and scholarly journals published on the Web by Polish Academy of Sciences and other research institutions in Poland. The list includes journals that contain articles on agriculture, food, fishery and forestry. Many of these Open Access journals have impact factors. The aim of the list is to promote their increased usage and impact. The list is maintained by Central Agricultural Library in Warsaw (CBR).

Acta Biochimica Polonica - the Journal of the Polish Biochemical Society and of the Committee of Biochemistry and Biophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); is a journal covering enzymology and metabolism, membranes and bioenergetics, gene structure and expression, protein, nucleic acid and carbohydrate structure and metabolism; is published quarterly on paper and on the Web.

Acta Geologia Polonica - the Journal of the Committee of Geology, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); issued quarterly on paper and on line.

Acta Ichthyologica et Piscatoria - an international, peer-reviewed scientific journal (in English) published under auspices of the Faculty of Food Sciences and Fisheries, Agricultural University of Szczecin; two issues per year on paper and on the Web; founded in 1970.

Acta Protozoologica - Published quarterly (in English) by the Nencki Institute of Experimental Biology and the Polish Society of Cell Biology; publishes original papers presenting the results of experimental or theoretical research in all fields of protistology with the exception of faunistic notices of a local character and purely clinical reports. Short (rapid) communications are acceptable but also long review articles.

Acta Scientiarum Polonorum. Technologia Alimentaria - scientific journal (in English) published by The August Cieszkowski Agricultural University of Poznan; is a journal covering all aspects of food science from raw materials properties trough processing and economical aspects up to consumer quality of final products and their nutritional acceptability

Animal Science Papers and Reports - scientific journal (in English) published by the Institute of Genetics and Animal Breeding, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); issued quarterly on paper and on line.

Annals of Agriculture and Environmental Medicine (AAEM) - published biannually on the Web by the Institute of Agricultural Medicine, Poland; the Journal publishes original articles on diseases associated with agriculture, forestry, and food-industry, particularly those caused by biohazards; health effects of chemical pollutants; work related accidents; and methods of monitoring biohazards; full-text articles are available from 1997 onwards.

Bulletin of the Sea Fisheries Institute - the Journal covers marine biology, ichthyology, physical and biological oceanography, fish processing and technology, fishing techniques as well as topics concerned with the protection of the marine environment; three issues annually; founded in 1970.

Bulletin of the Veterinary Institute in Pulawy - the Bulletin publishes quarterly original articles on all aspects of veterinary science and related subjects, completed in the National Veterinary Research Institute and in other scientific centres.

Cellular and Molecular Biology Letters - Published by Polish Society for Cell Biology and University of Wroclaw; publishes accelerated papers on biochemistry, molecular biology, cellular biology, physiology and biophysics as well as general and applied biotechnology.

Communications in Biometry and Crop Science - published by the Faculty of Agriculture and Biology of the Warsaw Agricultural University (SGGW); publishes original peer-reviewed papers, both theoretical and experimental in crop and biometrical sciences (agronomy, crop plants physiology, plant-soil relationships, plant breeding, crop protection; biometry, regarding the statistical and mathematical methods connected with the above mentioned fields); the Journal is electronic publication with no print counterpart; founded in 2006 at the 100th anniversary of the Faculty of Agriculture and Biology and 80th anniversary of the Department of Biometry of the Warsaw Agricultural University.

Dendrobiology - scientific journal (in English) published by the Institute of Dendrobiology, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); focuses on biology of trees and shrubs; the Journal publishes original articles and review articles; issued anually on paper and on line.

Electronic Journal of Polish Agricultural Universities (EJPAU) - the Journal publishes original articles on all areas of agricultural research and related sciences: agronomy, animal husbandry, agricultural engineering, biotechnology, economics, environmental development, food science and technology, fisheries, forestry, horticulture, veterinary medicine; published twice a year on the Web, in English, is electronic publication with no print counterpart; founded in 1998.

Folia Biologica - published by the Institute of Systematics and Evolution of Animals, Polish Academy of Sciences; publishes papers on the broad field of experimental zoology, nuclear and chromosome research, and also ultrastructural studies.

Folia Histochemia et Cytobiologica - quarterly journal published by the Polish Histochemical and Cytochemical Society and Foundation for Cell Biology and Molecular Biology; journal is devoted to problems of histochemistry, cytochemistry, cell biology and pathology, tissue biology.

Geological Quarterly published on the Web by the Polish Geological Institute; is the leading Earth sciences journal in Poland; all aspects of Earth and related sciences, and universal and broad regional rather than locally oriented topics are covered; founded in 1957.

International Agrophysics - published quarterly by the Institute of Agrophysics, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland); focusses on physical properties and processes affecting biomass production and processing; the main topics are: mass (water, air, plant nutrients) and energy (light, heat) transport in the soil-plant-atmosphere continuum and ways of their regulation in order to reach biomass of high quantity and quality; environmental and agricultural physics; in English on paper and on the Web.

Journal of Applied Genetics - founded in 1960 at the Institute of Plant Genetics, Polish Academy of Sciences Genetica Polonica Journal of Applied Genetics (JAG) publishes original papers, short communications (including case reports) and review articles on plant, human, animal and microbial genetics.

Journal of Fruit and Ornamental Plant Research - published by the Research Institute of Pomology and Floriculture in Skierniewice.

Journal of Plant Protection Research - published by Institute of Plant Protection and Committee of Plant Protection Polish Academy of Sciences.

National Parks and Nature Reserves on-line - published by Białowieski National Park and the Board of Polish National Parks since 1981.

Oceanologia - quarterly journal of basic research in marine sciences with emphasis on northern European seas; published by the Institute of Oceanology, Polish Academy of Sciences (Poland) in co-operation with the Polish National Scientific Committee on Oceanic Research - SCOR; in English on paper and on the Web; founded in 1971.

Polish Journal of Ecology (formerly Ekologia Polska) - quarterly journal, published by the Centre for Ecological Research Polish Academy of Sciences; the journal publishes original scientific papers dealing with all aspects of ecology: both fundamental and applied, physiological ecology, ecology of population, community, landscape as well as global ecology, there is no bias regards taxon, environment or geographical area.
